A new housing lottery has launched in the Morrisania section of the Bronx offering 43 units to senior renters who qualify. The studio and 1-bedroom apartments at the Home Street Senior Apartments complex are available to individual or households with at least one member 62 years of age or older. Interested renters should apply through NYC Housing Connect before the deadline of Jan. 9, 2019.
How to Apply for the Home Street Senior Apartments Housing Lottery
To apply for one of the 43 available units, you must meet the household income requirements. These are set at 30 percent of the area median income (AMI) or, between $0 and $41,750 annually, depending on family size.
There are other criteria that may influence the selection process. Applicants with disabilities impacting their audio, visual or mobile facilities receive special preference.

About the Home Street Senior Apartments Housing Lottery
Replacing a dilapidated church, 1017 Home Street housing lottery will span a 9,421 square feet, rising eight stories, and offer 63 units of housing. On the ground floor, there will be 3,113 square feet of community space. The building will feature an outdoor terrace as well as a rear yard. Other amenities include a gym, bike storage, laundry and resident lounge. Residents will have easy access to the 2 and 5 trains at the Freeman Street station and the 6 train at Whitlock Ave.
How Do I Apply?
You can apply online here. If you qualify, you will have an interview to review and confirm your eligibility. Interviews typically occur anywhere between two and 10 months after the application deadline. Be sure to go to the interview prepared. Bring documents that verify your household size, the identities of those in your household, and your household income.
