Morningside Heights

Good transportation Near park

Morningside Heights is located in the northernmost section of the Upper West Side. Despite its geographical location on the UWS, Morningside Heights is referred to by many today as “Greater Harlem.”.

Some also refer to it as SoHa, meaning “south of Harlem.” Before any of these names, however, the neighborhood was known in the 17th century as Vandewater's Heights.

About the Neighborhood:

The residential architecture in Morningside Heights is elegant and imposing; the distinct history of Morningside Heights makes it like no place else in New York. Morningside Heights has many charming restaurants and stores, not to mention a lively nightlife, so it is not simply a place for those who are in search of a quiet, historically hallowed area (although it certainly is that too).

It marries the Ivy League splendor of Columbia University with the notorious neighborliness of the Upper West Side: delicious dining, magnificent museums, sumptuous sidewalk strolls, exciting cultural centers, and the flanerie-friendly paths of Central Park. It's a quarter of the City where there's always something to do, and always a smile to be had!
