Liebling today today to schedule an appointment to
view--this apartment has a special incentive. At 870 feet tall, New
York by Gehry is the tallest residential tower in the Western
Hemisphere and a singular addition to the iconic Manhattan skyline.
For his first residential commission in New York City, master
architect Frank Gehry has reinterpreted the design language of the
classic Manhattan high-rise with undulating waves of stainless
steel that reflect the changing light, transforming the appearance
of the building throughout the day. Gehry's distinctive aesthetic
is carried across the interior residential and amenity spaces with
custom furnishings and installations. Gehry's innovative
incorporation of bay windows creates the tower's dynamic silhouette
as well as an exceptional variety of panoramic views from within
the residences. By shifting the bay windows from floor to floor and
tailoring their configuration for each residence, Gehry has given
residents the opportunity to, as he puts it, step into space.
Residents enter New York by Gehry's lobby via a porte cochre
between Spruce and Beekman Streets that fronts an 11,500
square-foot plaza. Designed by Field Operations, the creative force
behind New York City's High Line, and Piet Oudoulf, the
horticulturist who collaborated with Gehry on the design of
Chicago's Millennium Park, this is one of two plazas that will
feature intimate seating arrangements set within a landscape of
native grasses, perennials, and light-filtering canopy trees. This
urban oasis will be enhanced by sculptural elements covered in
vines, lighted planters, and animated water features.Open kitchens
feature custom designed cabinetry in vertical grain Douglas Fir,
Caesarstone quartz countertops, and porcelain tile floors.
Stainless steel appliances are by Bosch, Sub-Zero, GE, Haier, and
Blomberg. New York by Gehry's 22,000 square feet of indoor and
outdoor amenity spaces, together with comprehensive concierge and
lifestyle services, offer residents an experience found only in
world-class hotels and resorts. New York by Gehry's health and
wellness amenities are filled with natural light and feature
expansive Manhattan views. On the 7th floor a 50-foot swimming pool
is set within a skylit space surrounded by a series of glass doors
that retract fully, creating a seamless expanse of indoor and
outdoor spaces from the pool to the wraparound sundeck. A 3,300
square foot state of the art fitness center with a view of the
Brooklyn Bridge and a spa treatment suite are both located on the
7th floor. The 8th floor offers a 1,200 square foot group fitness
studio as well as yoga, pilates, and private training studios.
Residents also have access to secure bike storage. Throughout the
6th, 7th, and 8th floors, residents have exclusive access to indoor
and outdoor social and entertainment amenities. On the southern
side of the 6th floor the grilling terrace is outfitted with dining
cabanas with picnic tables, caf seating, and grills. From this
terrace residents will enjoy stunning views of Cass Gilbert's
classic Woolworth building. The adjacent game room is furnished
with custom designed seating by Gehry. On the 7th floor,
overlooking City Hall Park to the north, a large Drawing Room with
multiple seating areas and a grand piano is located adjacent to a
private dining room. Both can be reserved for residents' events,
which can be serviced from a chef's demonstration and catering
kitchen. The 8th floor offers a library with a well-curated
selection of books and periodicals, a tweens' den, a children's
playroom, and a screening room with Gehry-designed amphitheater
seating that is also available for private events.Views from every
direction and floor, at all times of the day and throughout the
year, are limitless. Intimate perspectives of the Woolworth
Building to the west are set against a breathtaking panorama that
encompasses of the Hudson River. All five East River bridges and
iconic midtown skyscrapers, including the Empire State and Chrysler
buildings, unfold along the eastern and northern exposures. Views
toward the northern horizon include Central Park and the George
Washington Bridge. To the south and east, Manhattan is seen against
the backdrop of the New York Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. April
