Bay Ridge, Brooklyn - A largely middle class neighborhood, Bay Ridge is one of few such places remaining in Brooklyn. With its strong family presence, it's not uncommon to see third- or fourth-generation families living in the region.
3rd Avenue is lined with great fine dining, giving it the local nickname of "Restaurant Row." 5th Avenue also has its share of restaurants, providing a wide array of ethnic dining choices.
There is also a thriving nightlife, with plenty of Irish pubs along 3rd, 4th, and 5th Avenues-- the main commercial strips of the neighborhood-- and it is sometimes endearingly referred to as "Bar Ridge."
Due to the number of commuters to the city, Bay Ridge is serviced by many express buses into Manhattan. You can also take the R train to the 59th Street station and catch the express N train into the city.
