Bay Ridge is situated in the Southwestern corner of Brooklyn, between the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and the Belt Parkway. Bay Ridge, Brooklyn apartments have great views of the water, including the Verrazano Bridge. The neighborhood has one of the more expansive views of the water, which means you're more likely to find a water view. There are a handful of recently built luxury buildings with all the amenities including a gym, new elevators, and a doorman, but most of the apartments for rent are pre war. And while they're older buildings, it's still standard to have laundry, elevators and washer/dryers. There are a few fantastic apartment buildings on Shore Road, which snakes alongside the water and is lined with trees. There's a chance you'll also find a gem of a Bay Ridge, Brooklyn apartment in a multi-family detached building where you're the only renter. In these units you may find a private deck, great outdoor space and a private entrance.

You should expect to pay around $800-$1100 for a studio in Bay Ridge, and $1,000-$2,000 for a one bedroom Bay Ridge, Brooklyn apartment apartment, on average about $1,500. Two bedrooms typically go between $1,500 and $2,500, with three bedrooms ranging from $2,000-$3,500.

So why do you want to move to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn? You’re probably looking for an area where things move at a slower pace than the usual NYC-hectic. You’ll find a lot of retirees, which may contribute to this slow pace, but I’m sure the retirees would take objection to that statement. And you’ll also save relative to Brooklyn rents in areas closer to Manhattan. There are plenty of restaurants and shops, especially along 86th street and Third Avenue. For joggers or even casual cyclists, Bay Ridge is home to a few new jogging trails and if you have a young teenager, they’ll likely get excited by the skateboarding area in Owl’s Head Park. Once you move-in, the 69th Street Peer will undoubtedly be one of your favorite sunny-day hangouts.

For public transportation, your options are the R train (Fourth Avenue line), with stations at Bay Ridge Avenue, 77th, 86th and 95th Streets. Or you can take one of two MTA express buses, serving Bay Ridge to Manhattan.
