Descriptions of 555 Washington Ave

Just one block to the A/C train at Clinton/Washington station, and four blocks away from The Atlantic Terminal, Clinton Hill is a vibrant community with convenient access to Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, Prospect and Fort Greene Parks, Brooklyn Children's Museum, and soon to be Brooklyn NETS Stadium. Building amenities include a serene, lushly landscaped inner courtyard great for relaxing after a hard day. Kevin Cameron (Feb 2014)
As visually striking as the main school building is, it was not easy to convert to apartments, walls were found to be 2 feet thick in places, there are odd shaped rooms and layouts, and care was taken to preserve as much of the original detail as possible. This impressive Gothic style building began as the Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception, a six year high school/college prep program that was geared towards young men who had an interest in the priesthood. The prep school was founded in 1914 by the Bishop of Brooklyn, and continued at this location until 1985, when it relocated all of its facilities to Elmhurst, Queens, where it remains today. The school's alumni include 3 who attended, but didn't graduate from here, and went on to quite different careers than the priesthood. Simon Day (Mar 2012)
Fulton Street provides two great food markets, dry cleaning, Post Office, pharmacy, two pastry shops, a wine shop, several restaurants and an assortment of other shops services. Cathedral Condos are located in the former Cathedral Prep High School, a gorgeous Belgian gothic style building with gargoyles, arched windows and granite filigree. There is a part-time doorman, a live in super, two laundry rooms, a bike room and an easement for reduced rate parking in the condo garage next door. The Cathedral Condo building is located in historic and lovely Clinton Hill, half a block from the C train and 3. John "Tim" Winters (Aug 2014)
