Some also refer to it as SoHa, meaning “south of Harlem.” Before any of these names, however, the neighborhood was known in the 17th century as Vandewater's Heights.

The area is filled with great restaurants and bars (Pisticci, Mill, Bettalona and concerts several nights a week at Columbia and Manhattan School of Music. There is laundry in the building it is an amazing deal for students looking for a safe, fun and vibrant neighborhood close to Campus.
