Terminix, the pest control service company, recently released a list of the most bedbug-infested cities, and unfortunately, NYC topped the list:

1. New York City
2. Philadelphia
3. Detroit
4. Cincinnati
5. Chicago
6. Denver
7. Columbus, Ohio
8. Dayton, Ohio
9. Washington, D.C.
10. Los Angeles
11. Boston
12. Indianapolis
13. Louisville, Ky.
14. Cleveland
15. Minneapolis, Minn.

For a firsthand account of what it’s like to have bedbugs in your New York apartment, read our two-part post from a guest blogger about how she discovered, and eventually got rid of them.

While the risk of getting bedbugs is real, there are certainly ways of managing them.  So don’t let these little bugs discourage you from finding a place in the city.  They haven’t discouraged the other 8.4 million happy residents of NYC.  For more detailed information on how to identify and manage an infestation, we encourage you to read this document from the Harvard School of Public Health.
