By now I hope that most of you know that buying bottled water isn’t getting you anything that’s necessarily cleaner or purer than what flows from your tap. New York City has some of the best drinking water around, so don’t waste your money on bottled water and spare the planet all those plastic bottles, not to mention the greenhouse gas emissions associated with getting from Fiji to your corner bodega.
What was that? You only buy bottled water when you want it carbonated? I too am a sucker for bubbly water. The seltzer, Perrier, and Pellegrino I gleefully imbibe top the my list of eco vices. Bubbly water is my guilty pleasure.
I’m about to try out one of those gadgets that will make my tap water fizz to my heart’s content. I hear they work pretty well, and though they’re not necessarily cheap, considering that I go through as many as five large bottles of sparkling water a week, I figure I’ll save some money in the long run.

I really like the sodastream stuff. I”m wondering if you know where to get the old school glasses and do it like you have in the picture.
I’ve been wondering where to find those things for a while so I guess I should write nice fine!
I’ve used the Penguin model at a friend’s house and aside from being a bit bulky, it was great - easy and quick.
thanks for commenting! glad there are other bubbly water lovers with some good design sensibility out there! i’ve been poking around for antique seltzer bottles and i think eBay is your best bet. search for “seltzer bottle” and you’ll get a whole bunch of stuff. just make sure the seller says they’re in working condition before you buy!
