John English Photo

Hailing from South of the Mason Dixon, you may notice a slight accent when first you meet John. Don't mistake his laid-back demeanor for complacency, though; equally calm manning the stove in a five-star restaurant as working on set at a high-end photo shoot, he brings a calculated and relaxed manner to any service he may provide. The nine years spent in the trenches of the “back-of-the house” hospitality industry have left him with an unrivaled work ethic, a strange immunity to heat and a little bit of Spanish.

Having several years experience in the wily NYC real estate industry, he's is fully aware of the snares and pitfalls that can occur in the course of a transaction--something fledgling agents cannot claim; making his clients aware and acting in their best interest is the priority.  "If you want an honest appraisal of a situation, are looking for a new home, or just need some solid advice, feel free to give me a call."

Quick response, he was at the apartment at the time he said he would be there. He also sent me a text confirmation on the day of our appointment - which made me feel assured that he would really be there to show the apartment. When I expressed interest in another apartment he was showing, he also texted me on the day of (which was a few days later) to ask whether I would come in to see it or not. My rating for John is short 1 star only because I didn't end up renting from him and can't give a full rating based on just the 5 min. that I met him. Hope he is great afterwards too.

John was an incredibly helpful, friendly and efficient broker to work with. I responded to a listing and within hours he replied that I could take a look at a one-bedroom, Lower East Side apartment the next day. I was feeling apprehensive about the cost, location, and conditions of the apartment, as it was within my price range and rent stabilized. I knew I was looking for a unicorn in NY with my price range for a one-bedroom or studio, so I met John and he showed me a great apartment. He made himself available after regular work hours, answered all my questions, helped me find a great place within days. He even met me on a Saturday to sign the lease, and gave me a bottle of skotch whiskey (a very nice and unexpected gesture). He also let me know he'd stay in touch about next steps for moving in, putting me in touch with the landlord and getting the keys. Overall I highly recommend working with John as he was very easy to work with, was very clear about the paperwork I needed to have in order! It was by far a smoother process than any other experience I've had in finding an apartment, and I'm so excited to move into this new place! Thanks John!

John is extremely courteous and helpful. In my opinion he is one of the better agents and believe me, I have dealt with many.
John also gifted us a bottle of malt whisky on signing as way of a house warming gift, this was an extremely pleasant and welcome surprise.

I haven't rented an apartment with John but I did submit an application for an exclusive listing John had which was outbid. He was nice enough to not go ahead with the credit check when i was outbid, refunded my deposit for the credit check.
John is really cool and not a pushy broker which I respected and valued. He'll keep it straight forward and not waste your time with something that wouldn't fit your budget or taste.
