Janis became an agent after two decades as a software developer in the high pressure, fast-paced hedge fund industry where only the best succeed. She remains a caring, calming presence while getting deals done.
Janis's passion for real estate began in college. Unable to find a rental with two large dogs, she purchased the first of many homes and made a profit upon graduation. After extensive travel and living in suburbs, Amsterdam and Tel Aviv, Janis settled on the Upper West Side, for a time making her home in a houseboat at the 79th Street Boat Basin. Her enthusiasm for this part of the city is contagious. "As a parent, the UWS has offered so much in terms of quality of life -- great schools, two beautiful parks, excellent restaurants and shopping, but most importantly, a true sense of community."
A graduate of SUNY at Binghamton, Janis holds a BS in psychology and an MS in Computer Science. Both of these areas of study continue to serve her well. Her empathy, joy and ability to partner with clients helps them feel satisfied with the process of finding or selling a home.
Janis is a member of FCC (Families with Children from China), volunteers for NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill), is a supporter of www.PoweringPotential.com (a non-profit that seeds grass-roots efforts to bring technology and solar power to schools in Tanzania), and is certified to teach Awareness Through Movement and Functional Integration (Feldenkrais Method). While remembering her diving, motorcycle riding days fondly, she now prefers mostly city pleasures, race walking around the reservoir, close company, and curling up with her canine rescues and a good book.
