Jake was excellent all the way around. From his promptness in his responses to my emails and phone calls (at all hours) to his very thorough search and presentation of apartments that fit our criteria, my fiance and I were able to find an AMAZING apartment in under a week. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for an apartment in New York-- especially if you want some helpful guidance along the way. Thanks for everything, Jake!

I called Jake because his message was about himself and his approach to real estate in the city and he turned out to be just as helpful as his message said he would be.

During the first few phone calls he really explained a lot to me about how the rental market works and guided me through the whole process. Jake was honest and we saw six apartments in one day and I felt confident that he really knows what he's doing and was trying to help me find the right apartment that I would be happy with. He gave me his honest opinion and he was very reasonable about his fees. He clearly wasn't pressuring me to make any particular decision. I would definitely recommend Jake as a great guide for anyone's Apartment Safari!

Jake was very difficult to get a hold of after his initial contact with me via email. After many rounds of phone tag, I finally spoke with him via phone a few weeks before I was planning to view apartments and he recommended a few sites to look at and told me to send him some places I found on those sites so that he'd know what kind of places I liked, and then he'd send me some of his private listings.

In the week leading up to the days I would be in town to view apartments, I had not heard back from Jake so I sent him an email. He responding saying to "call him anytime" and we then started playing phone tag again, where he'd tell me to call him at a specific time but then he wouldn't be available when I called at that time. I was planning not to call him back at this point, but then he called me back a day later and we talked briefly and he said the same thing about sending him some links to places I liked, which I ended up doing again. And again I got no response.

In each of the times I spoke with him on the phone he had no level of professionalism and freely dropped f-bombs. He's definitely not a full-time broker, as he was busy working on some personal project and seemed more interested in talking to me about that than helping me find a place.

I typically don't leave reviews on sites like this, but my experience with Jake was so bad that I felt compelled to provide this feedback so that others not waste time like I did.

Fortunately, I ended up finding an awesome apartment on my own!

Jake contacted me via email through nakedapartments.com, offering his help, so I called him the next day and he gave me great suggestions for my initial search. He was always available for us, even knowing that we were searching for an apartment outside of Manhattan.
I can highly recommend Jake as a partner for apartment search in New York City.

Jake is quick to respond and is great for fitting your needs based on your circumstances. We ended up staying at our current place once the landlord decided to keep the rent the same! If not, we would have gladly continued to work with him. Nice, sensible guy and easy to work with, give him a call!

Said simply, Jake is the man. Available whenever it was convenient for us, long hours on the phone, helping us find out what we really wanted, and then showing us what we needed to see. It was very refreshing to not be “BSed” around and taken to apartments that were a waste of our time. I must say Jake is one of the kindest and most responsible person I have ever met. He actually cares about his client and is there for your best interest. He is a VERY honest man (although sometimes a little too brutally honest, but in a good way because I needed it!)
Just a few days ago I called up Jake seeking for his help to find an apartment asap, he asked me to pick out listings that I liked and within 24 hours he lined up all of the appointments for me to view the next day. We hopped through various neighborhoods all throughout Manhattan and found the PERFECT apartment in just one day!! He would always give me his honest opinion about each viewing along with the pros and cons (seriously helpful since I am a VERY indecisive person). I must say it is a blessing for me to have Jake by my side, he is GREAT at dealing with the landlords and brokers which will save you tons of stress.
On top of that, he is funny, easy going, and very personal!! I would recommend him to ANYONE at ANYTIME, honestly, he is just this good!

It's hard to believe but you can in fact find an honest broker in New York City. Jake had 12 apartments lined up for us to see, was professional, and his fee is very reasonable. As a bonus, he's fun/funny making an apartment search actually somewhat enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Jake was such a joy to work with - part of the family! My mom and I really enjoyed bouncing around the city with him, we were laughing the whole time. He has your best interest at mind and really works hard to find a unit that suits you, your budget, and personality.

Jake is a fabulous broker, proving himself to being courteous, responsive, trustworthy and a true professional.

When I first signed onto NakedApartments and filled out my profile, several brokers reached out to me. However, Jake stood out because he read my detailed profile and actually provided me with listings that were within scope, while other brokers didn't.

I still engaged a few other brokers in parallel to look for a place for my family, while also looking for places on my own.

Over a period of 3 weeks (July 2012) Jake proved to be the most responsive and proactive broker out of the lot. He provided both fee and no-fee listings from various sites, went to see several places and provided analyses of the various options available to us.

In the end, we settled on a no-fee flex-2 in Hell's Kitchen / Midtown West for $2700/mo with an average going rate of $3600+ for similar sized units. I was naturally skeptical of this listing and asked Jake to thoroughly check the place and landlord out (i.e. asked for multiple visits to the unit, numerous pictures beyond the ones shown in the original listing, circumstances around why the rent was so low, etc).

I was originally planning to arrange a slew of appointments ahead of time, stay in NYC for a week and then choose a place. Using Jake resulted in:

1) No-fee apartment*
2) Paying 25% less than market rate
3) Verified unit to our satisfaction
4) Saved costs of planned 7-day NYC trip & time-off

I absolutely recommend Jake for your next unit. When we move, we will be asking him to continue to be our agent.

*Note: Even though the apartment he arranged was no-fee, we still paid Jake a commission because he worked for it and we were getting a reduced monthly rate for the unit.

Jake will tell you that he is a no-nonsense, cut to the chase kind of broker who isn't interested in wasting your time and you will be skeptical because well, aren't we all skeptical of NYC brokers? After working with Jake I can tell you that he is sincere, honest, FUNNY, fair and an overall good guy who truly wants you to find a home that will make you happy. Jake was willing to go view apartments without me so that he could determine if the listing was even worth our time, this was extremely helpful. We found an apartment through Jake that was EXACTLY what we were looking for and the entire broker experience was pleasant and even fun. I will be recommending him to everyone. He's great. I didn't actually get an apartment with Jake but he was very helpful with my move to new york city even when he wasn't going to make any money(i ended up going for a share instead of a lease). I will definitely contact him when I am ready to lease.
