I've worked in real estate since graduating from the University of Washington with a dual degree in Philosophy and Economics. For two and a half years, I worked for a non-profit affordable housing developer in Seattle creating workforce housing for people earning 50-80% of the area median income. I came to New York in 2009 and worked in property management for one year and then jumped into real estate sales.
I wasn't sure I would make a good salesman-- but my father, a sales representative for apparel manufacturers, demonstrated for me that a low-key, non-pushy personality can last in sales and reap great reward just by providing great service and remaining honest and genuine.
I do real estate for fun. I mostly work with my friends and their referrals. I don't like to waste your time because it means I'm wasting my time. I'm not desperate for deals or collecting a full 15% fee. An 8.33% (one month) fee is plenty fair to you and me in the Internet age. You don't like the apartment I'm showing you? No problem, I'm happy to show you another one or you can use another broker.
I'm proud to report that my let-it-be honesty is actually paying off. I'm working with buyers now and am the exclusive listing agent for 402 West 22nd Street. (I'm looking for more exclusive listings-- I'd be very interested in representing your sales or rental listing.)
